Feature Spotlight: Denise Shelly-Ann Clarke (Author and Survivor)

My Feature Spotlight Segment seeks to remove the blinds and highlight persons who are using their voice and experiences to 'save the world' one soul at a time.

This feature looks at Denise Shelly-Ann Clarke author of two books and survivor of sexual, emotional and physical abuse.

Denise was born and raised in Clarendon, Jamaica, in the West Indies where she was molested and physically abused by her father at a young age. Six years ago, she migrated to the United States of America, where she currently resides with her husband, three sons and a daughter.

Denise has written two books detailing her abuse, her will to survive and the continued journey towards healing and forgiveness. Both books can be found on Amazon and Goodreads.

Click each link to purchase a copy of the books.

Determined to bring a new edge on how to survive, she wants to continue developing new dialogues and intriguing plots that will have her readers wanting more.

"Children are the light of their parents. Their hearts and minds are so pure, like a clean slate. They can be molded however life exposes them – be it happiness or sadness. That slate is in the hands of the parents/guardians to ensure they get the best upbringing, thereby shaping their personalities as examples for other parents" - Denise

"However, life is not the same for everyone, and that is how every child receives exposure differently. For those unfortunate children whose parents neglect them, or those children who have been the victim of someone’s wrongdoing, scarring them for life – those are the kids that need to be looked after and taken care of more than others. It is the sole responsibility of the parents/guardians to ensure their children have a positive outlook on life". - Denise

Denise can be reached at iamawarrior2019@gmail.com

If you or someone you know is a victim of any form of abuse please report the matter to the relevant authorities.

Until next time.
