3 Countries To Visit This Summer For Vacation

Hi Summer, I've missed you! Summer is all about hitting pause, resetting, and taking care of yourself physically and emotionally. It's the perfect time to reconnect with loved ones who may have taken a back seat during the busy school year or work season. And what better way to do all of that than by taking a fun and relaxing vacation? Exploring a new city or country is a perfect way to refresh and transition into a new season. Plus, travelling with loved ones is a great way to make memories and learn about different cultures while trying fresh foods and experiencing new things. It's no wonder travelling makes us happier!


1. VANCOUVER, CANADA

5 Must-Visit Places
  • Stanley Park - Explore Vancouver's first and largest known park for its scenic water views, rainforest, majestic trees, famous Seawall, beautiful trails and cultural and historical landmarks.

  • Capilano Suspension Bridge - Walk across this legendary suspension bridge with a breathtaking green oasis of trees and plants.

  • Canada Place - Canada Place is an iconic national landmark in the heart of Vancouver’s downtown harbourfront. Canada Place includes FlyOver Canada, Vancouver Convention Centre East, Pan Pacific Hotel, Port Metro Vancouver cruise ship terminal, World Trade Centre office tower and VINCI Park Parkade.

  • Granville Island - This site is a posh, artsy neighbourhood filled with quaint shops, eateries, breweries, and year-round arts and cultural festivals. Located in False Creek, it's famous for the Granville Island Public Market, where you can get fresh produce, gourmet food, and artisanal handicrafts.

  • Sea to Sky Gondola - A 10-minute scenic gondola ride brings you to the expansive Summit Lodge, which has a stunning viewing platform, two sit-down restaurants and a gift shop.

My Experience

I visited Vancouver in the fall of 2019 and loved every minute of it. The weather was amazing, and the sights were breathtaking. The nightlife was invigorating; however, the high cost of living was less than desirable.

My least favourite: The drug crisis

Favourite activity: Capilano Bridge



2. OSAKA, JAPAN

Osaka is arguably Japan’s street food capital and most famous for snacks, including takoyaki and okonomiyaki. Osaka is also renowned for its fun, extroverted people who make eating and drinking in the city an unforgettable experience.


4 Must-Visit Places
  • Osaka Castle - One of the most famous landmarks in Japan, Osaka Castle, is a five-story castle built 450 years ago. The castle has an observation platform with city views and a history museum that uses holograms, 3D pictures and other technologies to describe the history of the castle.

  • Universal Studios Japan - One of the 6 universal studios located around the world. The theme park has attractions and shows based on Hollywood blockbusters and popular entertainment brands.

  • Shinsaibashisuji - The Mecca of shopping in Osaka. From countless high-end stores to affordable retailers and high-street shops.

  • Osaka Aquarium - Osaka Kaiyukan is the largest aquarium in the world. It is renowned for its innovative presentation of aquatic life and natural habitat.

My Experience

I lived in Osaka, Japan, teaching English as a foreign language for three years. I loved living in Osaka; it had everything a prefecture should have without the overcrowding Tokyo is known for. The history, the architecture, the street food and the culture are beautiful as it is memorable. This country/city should be on everyone’s bucket list.

My least favourite: Foreigners are welcomed but only temporarily

Favourite activity: Too many to list
