We Believe in Fathers - They are Irreplaceable!

"A good father is one of the most unsung, unpraised, unnoticed and yet one of the most valuable assets in our society" - Billie Graham

Unsung

Definition - not celebrated or praised

Synonyms - unacknowledged, overlooked and disregarded

It is no secret and absolutely no surprise to anyone that fathers are deemed second class citizens when it comes on to parental hierarchy. Regardless if a father is present and carries out his role with admiration and merit, he is still relegated to second in a child(ren) emotional and mental orbit. Present and involved fathers should be acknowledged and celebrated equally as their counterpart (mothers). These fathers are heroes; credited for being great mentors and teachers, leading by example and devoting time and energy to life skills.

Let's turn the word "unsung" into - heroes, mentors and teachers

Unpraised

Definition - not extolled in praise/ withhold praise from someone

Synonyms - unapplaud, unhonoured, uncelebrated

Fathers are known innovators and have re-invented parenting for many years. They are resourceful and will find new ways and products to get the job done. It could be as small as a flying car made from paper plates to a full on playground complete with slide and swing fashioned by their own hands.

Let's turn the word "unpraised" into - innovators, pioneers, trailblazers

Unnoticed

Definition - not seen or noticed

Synonyms - overlooked, unseen, unconsidered

A fathers presence around the home and in their child(ren) lives creates a sense of safety, security and well-being. Fathers in this sense are seen as omni-powerful and indestructible . Most importantly fathers protect their children by strengthening their judgement so they can protect themselves later.

Let's turn the word "unnoticed" into - protectors, defenders, knight in shining armour

My Father - Winston Anderson

"He didn't tell me how to live, he lived and let me watch him do it" - Clarence Budington Kelland

If I was asked to choose three words from the list above to describe my father, I would reply "that's a heavy task". My father encompasses all the positive synonyms listed above and then some.

My protector: A source of strength during my brightest and darkest hours.

The trailblazer: Finding ingenious ways to ensure I had the best education.

My hero: For being present everywhere, anytime and by any means.

My father is not a second class citizen nor does he place second in relation to my mother. My father sits atop the list, equally placed beside my mother.

He is just as important and just as irreplaceable.

Happy Father's Day Daddy!!! Love you - Wintson Anderson
